While the risk of starting a wildfire maybe low, fires can happen. Remember a permit is needed to do any burning within the forest protection area. Never leave a campfire before it is completely out. Campfire safety is particularly important at this time of year.

Rainfall amounts received across the Grande Prairie area have eased the dry conditions. The change of weather recently doesn’t mean the danger of new fires is past. Put out your campfire - even if you are just going on a short hike. This means soaking the ashes until they are cool to the touch.
