Effective at 4 p.m. today, the fire ban and OHV restrictions will no longer be in effect for much of the province. However, they will remain in effect for the Lac La Biche and Fort McMurray Forest Areas of northeastern Alberta.

Wet and cool weather across parts of Alberta has reduced the fire hazard to a point where the province is adjusting the boundaries of the fire ban and off-highway vehicle (OHV) restrictions.

While the risk of starting a wildfire maybe low, fires can happen. Remember a permit is needed to do any burning within the forest protection area. Never leave a campfire before it is completely out. Campfire safety is particularly important at this time of year. Spring time brings gusty wind and dry grass that can easily spread fire.

Jurisdictions outside the Forest Protection Area (FPA), including municipalities and provincial parks, may issue their own fire restrictions or bans. Please check albertafirebans.ca daily for detailed information about restrictions and locations.
