GRANDE PRAIRIE FOREST AREA WILDFIRE UPDATE | July 31, 2020 AT 10:30 a.m.

Since March 1, there have been 30 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, burning more than 19 hectares. For more information on the current wildfire situation across the province of Alberta, visit wildfirestatus.alberta.ca.

BEFORE YOU BURN IT, GET YOUR PERMIT

Do not burn during windy conditions. You must evaluate the weather at your specific location and follow the conditions on your permit. You are responsible if a fire escapes the burn permit area. Extinguish all fire before the permit expires. Contact your local fire guardian or an Agriculture and Forestry office for a permit.

When operating an off-highway vehicle (OHV) use caution, clear your hot spots, and carry a collapsible bucket and shovel. Sparks from rocks hitting heavy machinery, dragging chains and welding operations are all high-risk activities.
