The current wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is VERY HIGH. High temperatures in today's forecast continue to create conditions that dry forest fuels and will allow a fire to spread quickly should one start.
- No new permits will be issued
- Safe campfires are still allowed
Wildfire Update - August 22, 2017, 10 AM
There is currently one active fire in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, it is currently classified as Under Control at 1.3 hectares in size and the cause is under investigation. Crews will continue checking for hot spots and will work on completely extinguishing this fire today.
There have been 40 wildfires so far this season that have burned a total of 7.41 hectares in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.

Your off-highway vehicle can start a wildfire.
Check your off-highway vehicle frequently for any smouldering debris. Grass, muskeg, moss or other debris can drop to the ground as you're riding and spark a wildfire. ride debris free. Stop periodically and remove debris from hot areas of your off-highway vehicles before they heat to the point of igniting.
