Fort McMurray - Wildfire Danger is Moderate

 WILDFIRE SITUATION - July 29, 2018 

Currently there is one wildfire in the Fort McMurray Forest Area that is being held. This wildfire is located approximately 11 km southwest of Marguerite River Wildland Provincial Park and is being held at 0.3 hectares. This wildfire was caused by lightning on July 29.
 
Since March 1, 2018 there have been 81 wildfires that have burned approximately 2,622 hectares in the Fort McMurray Forest Area.

Provincial Situation - July 29 (as of 9:00pm)

There are currently 31 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 2 are out of control, 14 are being held, 11 are under control and 4 have been turned over to the responsible parties.

Since March 1, 2018, Alberta has recorded 1,006 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area that have burned a total of approximately 49,825 hectares.

Make sure it's out! A campfire left smoldering can cause a wildfire. Never leave your campfire unattended and make sure it's out. Soak it with water, stir up the ashes and soak it again. A campfire is out when the ashes are cool to the touch.
