WILDFIRE SITUATION 

Fort McMurray Forest Area
 
A slow moving upper low preasure system will continue to linger over central Alberta, bringing isolated rain showers throughout the Fort McMurray Zone throughout the day. Temperatures will remain normal into the week 15-22C, with light winds across the province and poor drying conditions. Fire Danger will continue to remain suppressed.
 
Since March 1, 2018 there have been 78 wildfires that have burned approximately 2,651.23 hectares. Two are being held, 3 are under control and 73 have been extinguished.

Provincial Situation

There are currently 30 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 5 are being held, 20 are under control and 5 have been turned over to the responsible parties.

Since March 1, 2018, Alberta has recorded 883 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area that have burned a total of 39,232.12 hectares. 

Make sure it's out! A campfire left smoldering can cause a wildfire. Never leave your campfire unattended and make sure it's out. Soak it with water, stir up the ashes and soak it again. A campfire is out when the ashes are cool to the touch.
