Over the next several weeks, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry will be burning brush piles on the west side of the hamlet of Fort MacKay, east of the CNRL Horizon Way Road. Burning will only take place when conditions are favorable. Smoke may be visible from the roadways and the community. Use caution if you are travelling in this area as visibility may be reduced. If you are having respiratory issues from the smoke, please contact Alberta Healthlink or dial 811.

A fire permit is not required outside of fire season (November 1 - February 28) in the Forest Protection Area, but please continue to use caution with your winter burning. Make sure your fire is out. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until the ashes are cool to the touch.
