WILDFIRE FIREFIGHTERS
Alberta has several types of wildfire firefighting crews. The rappel firefighters are best known for their ability to descend from a helicopter in a controlled manner safety onto the fireline. They play an essential role in helping speed up the containment of a wildfire by going into areas of a wildfire that is inaccessible by ground and building helipads. Helipads allow for other firefighters to approach the fireline in a safer and more time efficient manner.
